I use to always switch back and forth between other brushes, trying to find something that worked. I have been in a long term relationship with this brush for almost 5 years and love everything about it. I have never used a brush as good as this one for that purpose.

It works really well for powder bronzers as well! But because it is synthetic, it will work beautifully with liquids, blending them in and giving a airbrushed appearance. Because of the angle, its extremely easy to contour with as well. The F86 Tapered Kabuki I have been loving this for blending in concealer. Since I really like to bring my concealer down in a triangle shape for for definition and highlight, this brush makes it SO easy! Because of the tapered point, you are able to get in the inner corner of your eye and slightly highlight without going overboard.
You only want to use powder products with this brush! Since its synthetic hair, it blends powder beautifully, but not cream! I ve been waiting for this for a long time….. I can finally order without going crazyyyy :.

Thank you I have been wanting you to do this for so long! These are all on my x-mas list for sata to get me :. How do you clean your F80? You are amazing.!!!!!! My 3 daughters and myself have just found you and are obsessed!!!!! We are die-hard Mac customers for many many years. As a matter of fact we are from Montreal, Canada and that is where they started. We now live in Florida and have our special person at the Nordstrom Mac counter. I have a question for you.
I have old Mac brushes that are single digits.
Is there a comparison chart to see what it is that I actually have? And, do you they they would update for the same brush, seeing that they are so well taken care of???? I needed this! Thank you! Caitlyn Robillard, The Sigmax Kabukis are tougher than normal brushes to get clean. I squirt some baby shampoo or whatever brush cleaner you use into the brush and then a bit on my hand.
I then swirl the brush in my hand and once it starts to foam I push the bristles flat onto my hand to get the shampoo as deep as possible. And always dry upside down to maximise your brushes life. Question for ya, so I was watching one a while back and you used the MAC faerie glen lipstick from a holiday collection and of course I cant find it anywhere! Do you have something that is comparable to that color? I absolutely love the color and wear those shades on a daily bases. Thanks so much! I am loving the dark lips for fall, but I have pale skin and am intimidated to wear them.
Could you do a video on fall lipsticks for pale skin? Would you say these are the basic brushes I can buy to start a brush collection which I can use for most every make-up look? Plus the Nars Ita, of course. You can definitely use it. Also use the F84 for foundation.
They all work pretty well. I have all but 2 of these brushes and they are wonderful! Your videos are amazing Jaclyn! I ordered the tapered kabuki and tapered highlighter brushes a few weeks ago after seeing you use them in some of your videos. They are my new favorite brushes! You are amazing. Which is a better buy? Do you happen to know the promo code for December???
Hi Jaclyn Im going to try mac cosmetics for the first time and I went to the Mac stores so they can help me choose the right foundation as I have dry skin but they gave me the broad spectrum SPF 15 after like 20 min it was all cakey can you tell me which foundation will be best for dry skin that will last long? Are they made only from goat hair? Hun, gosh I love your highlighting on your cheekbones, can you make a video or explain to me what you do, it looks absolutely amazing!
Just recently discovered your blog and YouTube channel… Also recently started my love affair with make up.
I Tried Cheap Versus Expensive Makeup Brushes & This Is What Happened
Perhaps a video on how you would use those brushes? That would really help! I am looking for the perfect brush set. I am looking at the sigma collection or the makeup geek collection. Which do you recommend? Jaclyn, first off you are so naturally beautiful! Love how relatable and down to earth you are! Love your cray-cray humor too!!!
I want to only purchase one brush for each use so if you could tell me the best of each group or the better to start with I would greatly appreciate it!!! I really like it when folks get together and share thoughts. Great site, continue the good work! The fact is, collectors love their Saint Laurent with an unparalleled passion. Hey Jaclyn! I just tweeted you because I am trying to find out which eyeliner brush you are currently using!
Allure Backstage Beauty: Minimalism, Fall 2008
I saw that its that blue slanted sigma brush but it looks different than the E65 shown here. We offer a complete line of professional brushes specifically designed to highlight eyes and face. Each brush was individually tested for performance, resistance, and durability. The Sigma brushes are available in different kits to attend your specific needs. You can also acquire individual brushes and customize your own kit. Sephora was also the only brand we tested to provide a reusable, locking plastic cap with each brush.
Our eyeliner was the only selection that fell slightly flat: While decent, it lacked the razor precision of pricier options like NARS and Chanel. We also noticed more shedding versus brands at higher price points — including a single, errant hair poking out of the top of our eyeshadow brush after we washed it. Chanel is better if you already know what kind of brushes you use and are ready to invest in a brand.
We were blown away by Tom Ford 's luxurious brushes. The brushes have extremely soft, dense bristles and perfectly balanced mahogany handles that allowed for a level of control less expensive brushes just couldn't replicate. Besides applying your makeup flawlessly, the brushes are beautiful enough to just display on your vanity, thanks to deep red-brown handles, gold metal ferrules, and white bristles. All of our high-end brushes, from Chanel to Marc Jacobs, were excellent, holding their shape and performing well with minimal shedding.
But Tom Ford beat out the competition with our at-home testers. She reported that her makeup also applied more evenly with Tom Ford than with less expensive tools, making it easier to achieve a dewy, natural skintone. They retained their creamy color and lost zero hairs when we washed them, springing beautifully back into shape when dry. Tom Ford's blush brush left was far denser than low-end brands like e. The brand offers four lovely eyeshadow brushes, but its single eyeliner brush has been discontinued.
But be aware that the NARS line provides a very sharp, dramatic look. Plus, you have a diverse range of brush shapes to pick from. During testing, these brushes beat out more expensive contenders like MAC and Lancome thanks to their soft, full bristles. And the dense, angled eyeliner brush allowed us to easily apply a thin, dark, precise line.
There's one for every task.
Sonia Kashuk does stand out for being cruelty-free — if animal testing is a no-go for you, this brand has historically taken a strong stance against it. We dig into the details of what "cruelty-free" actually means in our FAQ below. Sonia Kashuk also offers a lot of fun gift sets. Sets are always limited edition, but you will have several to choose from at any given time, making this brand a solid gifting option. Additionally, e. We bought e. If you find your best concealer brush, your best kabuki brush, and your best blending brush from three different brands, you have the makings of a bespoke set.
One brand has the crease I like, but another has a foundation and blush that I like. The general consensus among makeup experts — which we saw reflected in the brushes we tested — is that natural hair should only be used for powders, while synthetic hair can be used for liquids, gels, and powders.
Synthetic is cheaper and easier to clean. There are plenty of brush cleansers on the market, but you can also DIY your cleaning solution. Baby shampoo and tea tree oil, or olive oil and dish soap, can help keep your brushes germ-free. No matter which cleanser you use, follow these steps:. Wash at least once a week to help brushes last longer, and avoid storing damp brushes in dark places like drawers or cabinets. Brushes used for liquid and gel makeup accumulate bacteria more quickly than powder brushes and should be washed more frequently. Getting the right angle and pressure starts with how you hold the brush.
For more control and a firmer application, hold the brush closer to the bottom of the ferrule the metal part joining the bristles and the handle. For a lighter application, hold near the middle of the brush. Makeup brushes can be made of either synthetic hair or natural hair, which comes from animal fur. PETA and Leaping Bunny are third-party organizations that certify brands as cruelty-free, but this certification process is voluntary, and a brand does not need certification to claim the label: Of our picks, only e.
When we asked her about the correlation between makeup brushes and skin health, Dr. Your brush accumulates bacteria with each use. Not washing brushes can lead to acne or worsening acne. We hold high standards for everything, but particularly for things intended to go on your skin and hair.
